Just this last weekend a new movie, The Internship, starring Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn was released to the theaters. While we are sure the movie is entertaining with a cast like that, there’s more to watch for in the movie that one-liners.
The Intership was filmed right here in our own backyard in Atlanta, and to make it even better, was filmed at the LEED® Platiunum Certified Georgia Tech Clough Commons, a project we had the privelege of working on. GA Tech was transformed into Google headquarters for filming.
According to an article posted on the GA Tech website, “Shawn Levy, director of The Internship, said there wasn’t even a “close runner-up” to Georgia Tech when it came to selecting the ideal filming location.
“I wasn’t sure how a movie would shoot while people were on campus,” Levy said. “But there was no disruption, and the film and the university were able to coexist. I loved being on a university campus and really found the spaces beautiful — especially Clough.”’
Garland Smith and Robert Moultrie just returned from IARW-WFLO 2013, and had a great time meeting with so many new and old friends and colleagues! We were able to use our new tradeshow booth for the first time, and really enjoyed our time in Hollywood, Florida.
As a sponsor, we exhibited in the expo lobby area, and were so excited to sponsor the mobile app for the event.
Thank you to all who stopped by our booth, and we look forward to seeing you at other shows this year.
What an honor it was to be invited to participate in the 2013 American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Gala at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Washington D.C.!
At the gala, we were the proud recipients of a National Recognition Award, the only award of it’s kind received by a firm in Georgia. We also received recognition from the ACEC of Georgia for our work on the Clough Commons Cistern and the Kessler Campanile Fountain Restoration, both of which are located on the campus of Georgia Institute of Technology.
Our President and CEO, James Strack, and Lead Civil Engineer, David Edwards, attended the event on behalf of the FDG team. Please join us in giving a special congratulations to David Edwards on all his hard work on these projects, and their submissions to ACEC. We couldn’t be more proud to have him and his incredible talent on our team!
