THE FULL STORY
FDG provided architectural and engineering services for the new 60,000-SF College Park Public Safety Facility, which houses the City’s police department, fire department and municipal court.
The police department area provides space for the administration, investigations, and patrol divisions. A large evidence storage area, S.W.A.T. Operations, E-911 Call Center, and a 16-bed jail are also included. In addition, the facility offers planned space to add a four-station indoor firing range at a later date.
The full-service fire department include workspace, eating and sleeping areas, and three large apparatus bays to accommodate the City’s fire response vehicles. The courtroom and support space accommodate seating for up to 200 persons.
Delivered for a total cost of $11 million, the two-story building was opened in December 2005. In 2006, it was awarded First Place in the Build Georgia Awards.
