COBB ENERGY PERFORMING ARTS CENTRE

COBB ENERGY PERFORMING ARTS CENTRE
Atlanta, GA

Facility Design Group provided comprehensive program management services to complete the design and construction of a new performing arts center at the busy intersection of Akers Mill Road and Cobb Galleria Parkway just outside the Atlanta Perimeter.  The Cobb-Marietta Coliseum and Exhibit Hall Authority initiated the $140 million project in order to support the growing need for additional arts and entertainment options in Cobb County.

The new Centre is the first venue in Metro-Atlanta to be designed and constructed expressly for the performing arts.  The acoustical features, sound and lighting systems, and geometry of the theater are specifically designed to bring every seat close to the stage and provide optimum sight lines.

Sited on 11 prime acres adjacent to the Cobb Galleria Centre, the 183,000 SF facility will feature a 2,750-seat theatre, a 10,000-SF ballroom and a terrace with a view of the downtown Atlanta skyline.  The 2,500 SF terrace will seat more than 300, and will be used for corporate receptions and other social events. A new 238,000-SF parking deck and surface lot will provide parking for 1,000 cars.

Construction began in April 2005, and the project team delivered the facility ahead of schedule in the Fall of 2007.
